What We Do
General Things, Inc. solves problems – lots and lots of problems. We provide a wide range of services for clients in diverse markets, including technology, entertainment, media and publishing, food and beverage, real estate and nonprofit. We excel at making the complex simple. We’re approachable geeks who can explain technology to just about anyone and make them comfortable in the process.
Web Development
We have established ourselves as a development leader in many emerging technology fields including social networks, blogs, content management systems (CMS), Ruby on Rails and Drupal community site development. We exclusively use Open Source and open standards-based software for the products we build.
Design
The designers at General Things have experience in just about every medium and have produced an amazing body of work. Along with our incredible in-house team, we also have partnered with some world-renowned design and experience studios like Albertson Design, Tolleson Design and Bond Art & Science.
Take a look at our client list to get a feel for what we can do (though keep in mind that we don’t always design the sites we build, and that this is not an approach we recommend).
Information Technology
General Things provides business and information technology strategy, development and management. We’re fluent in all forms of office, network, server and datacenter operations. We can manage fleets of desktop computers and racks of servers. We can design mission-critical high-availability systems, and we speak Mac OS, Windows and just about every flavor of Unix.
In addition, our close partnership with Rackspace gives us access to the best datacenters in the world.
Everything Else
In keeping with our name, we’ve also found ourselves managing an absurd array of unexpected projects such as magazine launches, photo shoots, video productions, video installations and charity events, to name a few. We’re pretty good amateur shrinks and sounding boards and we’ve been known to be there for clients to cry on our shoulders.
And finally, we laugh. Alot. We try to make everyone’s day a little brighter every time they interact with us.
